Imum Coeli - Root

Imum Coeli is Latin for "bottom of the sky" It is the point that is directly beneath you in a line, through the Earth and out onto the path of the Sun. It relates to your first memories, upbringing, family traditions and heritage that all fed the roots of the person that you are.

It also speaks of your spiritual roots, the traditions and teachings that you grew up in.

This card then is asking you to look at your life, habits, beliefs, practises and assumptions.

What are you carrying from your early life that was given to, or forced upon you that is not truly yours and could be given up? We all carry some effects of these early experiences, some are positive, but others are not. The time is right to look at these and "root out" (pun intended lol!), the negative and harmful ones. See if there are any changes you can make in your life and relationships that will assist you in this.

Consider your spiritual beliefs, are they truly yours, or habits imbued in your upbringing? If you are feeling a lack of spiritual roots, start looking at traditions to find a way that fits you honestly and fully.

If you are feeling lost, helpless, fragile and not in control, build yourself strong roots to ground you in the energy of earth. Visualise a root growing from the bottom of your spine down into the earth, anchor yourself in that energy, reach for it in times that destabilise you. This will strengthen your inner stability and strengthen your resolve and resilience.

There is a magical maxim that reflects the importance of having strong roots "As above, so below" The width of a tree's roots are the same as the width of its branches. Weak roots cannot support strong growth above. Look into strengthening your roots for your growth and wellbeing.
